Recognizing Our Shared Responsibilities.
I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional lands of Treaty 8 and Treaty 11. These lands are the ancestral and contemporary homes of the Yellowknives Dene, Akaitcho Dene First Nations, Willideh, Denesuline, Tłı̨chǫ, Dehcho, Sahtú, Gwich'in, Inuit, Cree, and Métis.
I am honoured to share this land with all who inhabit it, including the four-legged, winged, finned, and rooted beings. I commit to deepening my understanding of these relationships through curiosity, humility, and respect, celebrating the connections that sustain us all.
Land Acknowledgment with Action:
Acknowledging the land without meaningful action is not enough. I am committed to supporting Land Back initiatives, advancing reconciliation, and embedding decolonial practices into my work and daily life. This includes honouring the sovereignty, knowledge, and stories of the Indigenous peoples who have cared for these lands since time immemorial.
My work aligns with reconciliation and decolonial practices by offering culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care that honours the lived experiences and knowledge systems of Indigenous communities in Denendeh (Northwest Territories) and across Turtle Island. I prioritize creating a healing space that respects diverse identities, fosters intergenerational healing and acknowledges the impact of colonial systems and practices on mental health. Through ongoing learning, collaboration with Indigenous scholars, and the integration of mindfulness and body-centered practices, I strive to shift power away from eurocentric models of care, supporting clients in reclaiming wellness on their own terms. This approach reflects my commitment to advancing reconciliation, addressing systemic inequities, and embedding the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action into my practice.
